WELCOME BACK!

We look forward to another productive year at AMPA (The Academy of Music and Performing Arts) Welcome to all the new 9th graders and their families. The first day of school is August 15. The day starts at 7:56 and ends that day at 3:04. Period 7 begins on Wednesday, August 16.
If you didn't have an opportunity to audition, please stop into the Academy office, room 110 for assistance.

Great alumni news!

Yes you can have a career in the arts. In fact, did you know that one out of six people in LA are employed in the entertainment industry and we are doing our best to help them succeed. Here are a few highlights.
Colin Woodford: 2006: Percussion composer, His ensemble "Chord Four" won 1st place in the Conad International Jazz Contest in Umbria, Italy.
John Snow: 2011, Bass, John's ensemble "Sammy Miller and the Congregation" were featured artists at the Imbria Jazz Festival,, Antibes Jazz Fest (France), and the San Javier Jazz Festival (Spain).
Anthony Lucca, 2011, piano, conducting, was the music director for the World premier of the show" Jaque Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris" with LA's Odyssey Theatre Ensemble.
Recent graduate: Kameron Cary: 2017, trumpet was awarded a Bronze Medal in the National NAACP-ACT-SO competition in Baltimore.

Jazz members perform at the Hollywood Bowl.

Several members of Jazz A performed at the Hollywood Bowl on May 26 and 27 as the opening act for LA LIVE, a connection from film to music. It was the movie LA LA Land using musicians from the soundtrack including Arturo Sandoval and Andy Martin. 17,500 were in attendance! Bravo to the Jazz program
